The Ontario Colleen Stakes on Saturday should be an excellent race that may give some points to the winner as 3 year old filly of the year. Unless the Stronach Stables big monster comes and runs one more time, which you need three races at the track to be considered.Having said that here are my picks...
Race 7
#6 SUGAR BAY
First time turf, she comes off a dynamic race where she had some trouble on the far turn but Chantal found a way to the wire by a slim nose. Trainer Mac Benson a Hall of Famer has his charge ready for a top effort in my books he has been hot on this horse all year long. The charts show you she can be competitive on the turf with the right trip and a switch to Jono Jones, whom is a superb grass jockey, hence he won on a 35-1 shot Wednesday night, is not a bad trade off from Chantal who is committed to Northern Kraze. Chantal won 5 races that day Sugar Bay won the stake, she could of won on the outriders horse if it were in a race. She is not only the hottest looking Jockey at Woodbine, but she was the hottest that day for sure.. Sugar Bay set up with a nice work heading into this race in 1.01....nice
#4
Verdana Bold
Tyler has been darn close but yet no stake in the books and I feel again he will come up short. This horse is all business has speed, can run off the pace, almost push button. Trainer Danny Vella feels she is the best 3 year old out there.
#8
Lickety Lemon
A bad trip in Saratoga cost this horse further placing. She is ready with the other great Turf rider at Woodbine in Patrick Husband.
