"Jockeys" on Animal Planet

Anyone out there managing to catch the mini-series on Animal Planet titled "Jockeys"? It is not available in my area - Waterloo Region - and only on a special-super duper pkg for extra ca$h in the Brampton area.
It is available on a delayed basis from the website but was wondering if any one had any comments about it.

I have watched two episodes and I have mixed feelings about it. It's very well done and clearly they have some 'hollywood' money behind this thing.

The problem is that it's geared towards people who know nothing about the races and it seems to me that they've edited some shots out of context to make things more dramatic.

One example - Chantal Sutherland wins a race and they cut to her boyfriend Mike Smith looking as if he could kill. I suspect that was either posed or from another moment and they edited it in for dramatic purposes. Shouldn't Mike Smith be somewhat pleased that his girlfriend won a race. Earlier in the series we see Chantal at Woodbine watching the Santa Anita races on the tv and jumping up and down cheering for Smith.

Also, on a few ocassions, the producers have had track announcer Trevor Denman re-do the races to emphasize the jockeys. Any person who has been to the track more than twice can tell how fake this is.

Still, it has very high production values and they're spending a lot of time on Chantal who is clearly the most photogenic of all jockeys. She's also quiet skilled on a horse, so pretty neat that a young woman from Brampton is getting such positive attention.

I agree there are parts that are staged (the edited race call is annoying) but I think just to have a show with that much production money thrown at it, displaying our sport in a postitve light is GREAT! I will watch every episode!
