We hit three doubles yesterday and showed a profit. I'm sure everyone thinks I'm a genius after the first double at Belmont. We spent $12 on $1 doubles and it paid exactly $24,which meant we got back $12 for our $12 investment. That takes, skill, precision and experience!
We had an idea that Ginger Punch would get beat and that was a good idea; it just didn't happen with the horse we liked, so that was a loss of just $6 thanks to various scratches.
We spent $24 on $3 late doubles at Belmont and Curlin became racing's first $10 million horse by winning the Jockey Club Gold Cup for the second straight year. He only paid $2.90 to win, but we got a break because we had the 8 horse in the 11th and that one paid $17.60. For our $24, we cashed $31.50.
At Woodbine, I liked Jono Jones on #1 Saskewea and they won the Avowal Stakes at $13.40 to one. We spent $15 on the doubles, taking 3 in the 10th and 5 in the 11th and even though the 6-5 favourite won the last race, our payoff was $57.70 ( half the $2 price of $115.40). A $28.80 horse and a $4.60 horse would pay about $65 in a parlay. We got a terrific financial bump by playing the double.
So we bet $61 in total and cashed 101.20. We were down $58, so now for a few weekends of placing double bets, we are down just about $18.
I'm going to go get the form now and I'll put in some doubles in an hour or so...might not figure things out in time for the early doubles

Just minutes to post for Belmont.
I took 8 and 9 in the first with 1,3,4 and 7 in the second $1 doubles
At Woodbine, I'm going against the favourite, Baywoods which has won 5 straight. I took 1 and 2 with 1,3 and 6 for $6

Well we already hit a little one at Belmont. Here's the rest of today's pick. You still have time!
Late double at Woodbine:This worked yesterday...3 in the first leg with five in the second. We're taking #1 Cryptonite Kid, #7 Tizthemaninthemoon and #9 Golden Gate in the 9th with #2 Yonge's Harbour, #4 Interregnum, #9 Johnny's Con, #10, Regan Lodge and #11 Captive Spirit, whom we think is worth a shot to W/P at a price.
That's 1,7 and 9 with 2,4,9,10and 11 for $15...
Our mid-card double at Belmont starts with the 6th: Use # 4 Chicks are Better and #9Chanced with 1,4,6 and 10...That's uses up $8
The 9th is the Kelso Stakes at a mile on the soft Turf and I like # 3 Tam Lin and JJ Castellano and #6 Stalingrad and Channing Hill...those two with 5,6,7 and 9 in the 10th....another $8..

Here's an update on my betting prowess - or lack thereof. I risked $36 on the doubles last Sunday the 28th and even though I hit two, they paid tenny weeny and I lost $20, making my overall figure $38 in the hole.
The silliest thing was the late double at Woodbine - how did the 1 horse, Krytonite Kid in the 9th go off at .70? I didn't see that at all. When Regan Lodge took the 10th and paid $4.80, my succesful double returned just $9.70 and I spent $15 to get half of that.
I'll be dangling for much bigger fish this weekend. Stay tuned!
